Welcome to my neurodiversity-affirming practice!
I am an Illinois Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Pediatric and Lifespan Neuropsychologist with 25 years of experience. I am Board Certified in Pediatric Neuropsychology and Fellowship-trained in Adult and Geriatric Neuropsychology. I am PSYPACT certified provider, Florida telehealth provider, and am a Nationally Registered Health Service Psychologist.
During my training and career, I have worked extensively with autistic and neurodivergent individuals, of all ages, and their families. I have worked in outpatient clinics for children and adults, the VA system providing services for veterans, public and private schools as a consultant, and in a university clinic.
I founded the Neuropsychology Center for Attention, Behavior & Learning, PLLC (nicknamed The ABLE Center) 13 years.
I believe strongly in the importance of integration of home, school, and work supports to help individuals overcome their obstacles and enhance their strengths.
I am frequently asked to participate in IEP and Section 504 meetings to help schools understand how neurocognitive and psychosocial functioning can impact educational progress and well-being.
I am also an educational consultant and independent evaluator for Independent Educational Evaluations of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological related concerns impacting education.
When formal schooling does not work for a child, I am also experienced in private schools, homeschooling and unschooling supports. I frequently consult with homeschooling/unschooling parents to help them work with their child to overcome their child's obstacles and enhance their strengths through self-directed learning approaches to homeschooling.
Across all settings, I focus on neurodiversity-affirming, connection based, client-led approaches that support a person's natural growth and development across the lifespan.
Most importantly, I am neurodivergent myself and provide evaluations and consultations with lived experience of learning and social differences.
Elisabeth (she/her) is a nationally certified school psychologist. She earned her master’s degree in child psychology and specialist degree in school psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Elisabeth Anderson is a neuro affirming neurodivergent provider. This means that she understands that individuals have differences in their abilities and how they interact with the world around them – differences which are not considered to be deficits that need to be “fixed.” Rather, she considers neurodiversity to be natural human condition.
Elisabeth has over 10 years public service experience and is the owner of Connected Family Practice. She is also the assessment director for The ABLE Center. Elisabeth has been recognized by families, colleagues, and school administrators for her leadership and knowledge as a policy writer, consultant and trainer. Elisabeth’s insights have made her a sought after internship supervisor. Elisabeth believes that families should be able to find the supports they need both during and after the identification process to build greater understanding of neurodivergent brains, their needs, and potential support options.
When not working, Elisabeth enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, or hanging out at home with her pets and plants.
